Training

At Police Dog Services we believe in training for practical uses of the Police K9. Because all of the trainers are current or retired K9 Handlers for local and State law enforcement agencies, we know the challenges that officers face on the street. We train for those challenges. Our goal is to have all students graduate with the confidence and knowledge to handle any situation that may be presented to them. We place an emphasis on tactical training to ensure the safety of the dog, handler and other officers.

We are an Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission approved basic canine program. Upon completion of the training all teams will be able to certify to all standards set fourth by OPOTC. Teams will also be able to certify to the standards of any other Police Canine Association or other states credentials.

Dual Purpose K9 Teams are trained in Obedience, Tracking, Building Search, Area Search, Patrol Routes, Handler Protection, Aggression and Aggression Control, Evidence Search, and Narcotics Detection. Narcotics odors trained at Police Dog Services include the odors and derivatives of Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroin and Methamphetamine.
